Hi,
You don`t need to post the log for Spybot.
Just open the program, check for updates and if it finds any put a check in the box and tell it to download them. A green tick will appear if it downloads them successfully.
Then click on "Search and Destroy" / "Check for Problems"
Get it to remove all the "RED" entries
That`s it:)

Hi, this is just a thought I had , but doesnt Adobe Gamma loader , have conflicts with some types of Video/Graphics card drivers??
Hopefully Elaine or someone with more knowledge will confirm or deny this.

Thanks for your reply, I have disabled adobe gamma loader from statup and rebooted and although the problem was still there on opening a folder the first time I tried, subsequent attempts on right clicking various folders worked fine :) so progress is being made I think, have thought this before, but hopefully this improvement stays and I will have to live with the problem that on first booting the computer I cannot right click a folder without it refreshing the desktop.
Very strange it seems to be on booting up the problem is worst and yet I can right click on My Computer icon and other desktop icons and it works

Maybe the reason it happens on the first time after boot up is something to do with it initialising first, before being disabled in the start menu?
Again better to get confirmation from someone else with more clues than me.
I think its a Gamma correction tool usally associated with Photoshop or sometjhing isnt it?
More to do with correcting your monitor , perhaps if its a bit old or something? I have never used it, and dont know much about it?could you tell me what it is used for??
I just picked it out of your Hijack Log and rememberd that it does cause some conflicts , when I installed my ATI Video card it asked me to disable Adobe Gamma, pity Nvidia dont say something similar in thier installation instructions!!
If it is not a crucial program maybe uninstall it totally?

Well at the moment I am very happy as I booted up this morning and could right click any folder without any problems sraight away,that's the first time I have been able to do that for quite some time, so I thank you from the bottom of my heart for taking the time to help me.
I don't really know what adobe gamma really does, have never used it but as you say it seems to be something to do with creating profiles of your monitor calibration when using adobe. I only use photoshop for very basic things.

Hope you got your Grx card sorted and everythings working fine.
Sorry to say my problem has returned :confused: I relly thought it was sorted with your help as things were fine for a few days but now back to square one.
If anyone has any ideas at all what could be causing this please say before I resort to fomatting.

By the way my neighbour has just bought Windows XP Professional from PC World and paid £259.99 for it and it says on the box Version 2002 is that right seeing as we are nearly into 2005

Oh what a bummer, have you tried uninstalling Photoshop??
I am picking that you will have to re-install your graphics drivers because Gamma was enabled when you first installed your Graphics drivers?
It is one of those tasks that I really hate, sometimes it can be a real bitch, and others no problems at all.
But I would definitly try the Video/Graphics/display e.t.c drivers first.
Is your O.S. on its own partition??
If so it will make things easier if you have to formatt .
Maybe someone around here will be able to give you good advice about doing Graphics drivers, I got mine working eventually*sigh*.
