After reading both posts it is obvious that the poster was looking for input from someone with a different operating system. Is this really worth complaining about? (and triggering email reply notifications)

Thanks for your reply Niels, you've answered Tjolly's question succinctly. I couldn't have said it better myself.
Cheers
KM
Yes it is. It's double posting on one subject.Quote:

If you had a problem with internet software and you were running Win98 would you post in both forums just to be on the safe side?
Double posting causes confusion.
OK, first of all, my apologies to Tjolly - I'm sorry that you're confused.
Now, while my instinct tells me perhaps I should ignore the issue Tjolly's brought into this thread, I do think it's an important one and it merits some discussion. Niels is correct that I "was looking for input from someone with a different operating system". My post in W98 forum was brief, referred to my XP post and provided a result that I brought back to the XP forum. I think it was a reasonable strategy in addressing the original issue posted in this thread. What I would like to know is whether I'm really guilty of "double-posting"? Honestly. I don't think I am.
The irony of this whole thing is that I'm certain that classmates.com is hardly worth the effort to get to. Its only because I can't access it that I feel compelled to.

Pse. don't be sarcastic in your response. I am not confused, I noticed the double post and one of the rules of Vdr is that you do not double post. Pse. note I used the word confusion not confused.Quote:

Double posting is one of the forum rules, and can cause confusion.
When i answered your first post in xp, and i said you should wait for someone that does access the site and maybe has a different o/s i didnt mean posting in another forum, as you do not know if it has to do with either 98 or xp.
As youve seen some people can access it with 98 and some can access it with XP so there must be another issue here other than which OS is being used.
What that is i dont know.
Just sourced that site.
script language="javascript"
cookies have to be enabled
Without both enabled, you do not get there.
that classmates link opens fine for me.
OK, I give.
I've deleted the offending duplicate post in the W98 forum.
My genuine and humble apologies to Tjolly for my sarcastic remark.
Thanks to Train for that bit of info, although no matter how I adjust my browser settings I still can't access the classmates site .
Do you have a Host folder? Just plain Host, not Host.sbs.sig as a example. So you have to be able to see the extentions.
Thanks Train. I did a search but couldn't find a folder called "host".
Thinking you had a host foler with that website listed in it.
Might look in your restricted sites in IE for that addy.
I've tried adjusting all the privacy/ security settings, allowing sites, enabling cookies etc. Nothing. Something comes to mind - I have DLink wireless router. I don't know if it might be blocking some sites. Although I think I was having the problem before I got the router. I'm going to log off for the night. Thanks again for your help.
Might try bypassing the router? But that is up to you.
Have a good one.
Found a solution! I downloaded a Winsock repair utility and ran it. Bingo. Thanks to all who offered assistance.
