I wasn't able to find any evidence that NTI is connected with Roxio/Adaptec. Only this:

go woth nero ecdc isnt worth all the hassle trust me and yah nero doesnt have a "take two feature" to back up ur data but simple just create a data cd

It may be that the reason you're not getting a "straight" answer to your question about Roxio / NTI relationship is simply that the outside community doesn't actually know...
Your best bet for this kind of information would be to contact NTI themselves. The type of disclosure you're hoping for may not be publically known.
To the issue however, I use NTI's Backup Now Deluxe, and love it! And, like so many others in these forums, I use and recommend NERO in place of the Roxio software. I abandoned all EZCD software immediately after Adaptec sold it to Roxio. Roxio NEVER got, has still NOT gotten, and I suspect never WILL get their act together.
Nero works. Always, for me.
I don't THINK that NTI has any affiliation with Roxio, based on the assumption that if NTI WAS associated with Roxio, the NTI software wouldn't work either.
Not sure about NTI and XP however, you need to ask that question directly of NTI if no one else here responds.
In summary: Nero + NTI = Success (IMHO) Good Luck! ;)
There is no connection between the NTI and Roxio product lines. Just because both happen to be at version 6.0 does not mean one is the other. I suspect the NTI folks wouldn't be too thrilled with the comparison :)
I haven't used thier stuff, but NTI has a good reputation, and their product line is solid. They offer tools that will do just about anything you'd want to do with a recordable disc, including backup, packet-writing (the simulated floppy disk), and traditional mastering. The Easy CD Creator suite has a reputation that is, umm, less flattering. The "you can tell they're different because NTI works" logic is sound.
Also, a minor clarification, if I may. Adaptec did not "sell" Creator to Roxio. Adaptec spun-off their Software Products Group into a separate company, and named it Roxio. The same developmemt crew that ran Creator 3 into the ground is the same bunch that screwed up versions 4 and 5 (and, if history is any guide, 6, but the jury is still out on that). Their Dilbert-esque history of meeting shipping dates no matter what despite glaring bugs in the code has cost them in the eyes of the burning community, but that ship has sailed. Once someone tries a properly written program like Nero, CDRWin or NTI, they're unlikely to go back to the Roxio patch-fest. I know I won't :)
I have all 3 programs installed, NTI version 6, Nero latest version and Roxio. They all work fine with XP Pro.
NO, NTI is not related in any way with Roxio.
I use Roxio to burn ISO files only. I use NTI or Nero for data recording and pictures. The version of Nero that I have is 5.3.

Hi I just want to add my two cents worth on this issue, roxio ecdc 5.x ,when it's upgraded properly works just fine, in w98se w2k and wxp. I just love roxio ecdc more then Nero, or NTI cd maker platinum 6.o first it is a serious business like format, (without the cartoons like icons) and second, it will format a CD-R and ready the CD for a drag and drop function , just like one do with the a floppy, and Nero and NTI cd maker doesn't have that capability at all , Nero and NTI cd maker will format ONLY cd-RW which it takes about 45 min to 1 hour + time to format a cd-RW, and they cost a lot more then a CD-R ( I pay about 4c (us) per CD,) I had both Nero and NTI cd maker(full version) installed without a problem and the two are just more or less the same, but both don't have the incredibly nice function that ECDC platinum have THE DRAG & DROP using a CD-R media , so I opted for ECDC platinum 5 x in all my win systems , I have a trio boot system in my rig, W98 se- W2K pro, and WXP Pro, and I have absolutely No problem at all with Roxio ECDC platinum, I definitely recommend it, for me it's a keeper ! :) :) :) :) :) :D
