Why are all the links running so sloowww???
I tried each one listed, and could only get as high as 19 to 20KB. On one it was only 5KB, at that rate it still will take days to complete the download. Is there any way to speed things up, or get a better link?
I want the service pack, but don't want to tie a machine up for days to get it either.
Any help is appreciated.

The UK magazine you refer is not now able to put SP1 on this months edition, perhaps the next one, if we are lucky.
I love microsoft the offical mag from eng. I get here whenever I can. Usually Barnes and Nobles. the sp1 will be on next months edition not this one comming out. Just as an aside I find the English computer mags much better than the ones here in the states. Glad I found them.

I am downloading it at 47 kb/sec. My question is..Is this the final version or is it buggy still???? Will Monday's release be the same as this one? Thanks.

One more question on sp1, if you have downloaded all the updates, does that lessen the size of you download?

no SP1 is a package and the entire thing must be downloaded to install it...Quote:

I am usually not this dense, but does that mean there are duplictes of the same files on HD? If so is there anything that you can do about them

Well, all installed but a 300MB+ install size, whoa, thats without backing up old files too.
Dunno about this u know, i don't think its really nessesary, my ghost images will never fit on a single CD again.
Gunna have to find out whats its done and see if its worth while keeping it, lol :D

I'm curious how you're getting the 300+MB figure. I was poking around in a few places to see what kind of numbers I came up with, but the number in Add/Remove Programs (which I realize is notorious for being wrong) is only 14.08MB. I used the archive function also and checking %systemroot% it only shows 147MB actual disk size in the uninstall directory.
I don't doubt your numbers - just curious how and what you are measuring.

hi mate, well i checked my HDD space before installation and it was 612MB's freespace.
But after install is now gone down to 294MB's free.
as u mentioned it i too just had a look in Add/Remove but its not there, as expected because i didn't use the archive feature as i have ghost for that.
EDIT: and no the actuall service pack download is not included in this figure because thats on another partition, so it all purly updates only.
