For the benefit of any & all Operation Delta readers:
These links have been posted here, there and yonder, but if you're interested in case modification ("modding") here they are together at last...:
Virtual Hideout---probably the best site for modding on the net; good how-to articles. For visual ideas, check out their Cool Case Gallery--start with the "Main" and work back. IMHO, some are really great, others are downright ludicrous https://discussions.virtualdr.com/.
For regular and modding supplies, here are some suggestions:
Plycon
Case Etc.
2 Cool Tek
*Remember, should you decide to accept the challenge of modding your case and you completely ruin it, everyone here will disavow any knowledge of your actions.... https://discussions.virtualdr.com/
(In other words, go slow and be financially prepared to replace the part if need be.)

What hard drive did you guys decide on, and where did you get yours? Also, how much dinero?
maxximilian deserved a better quality answer than that.
Several members of Intel's i81x family of motherboard chipsets for mainstream and value (read cheap) desktops, specifically the 810, 810e, 810e2, 815, and 815e, were designed with built-in video. When you see the phrase Intel Direct 3D AGP Graphics, it indicates that the system was built with a motherboard based on one of these chipsets.
The bad news is that ingegrated video limits your ability to upgrade. 810 based boards cannot include an AGP slot, 815 boards can, but often do not. The integrated video is certainly sufficient for browsing and office type applications. It is also generally sufficient for desktop video (media player, real player, DVD, MPEG, etc.). It will not be sufficient for high-resolution 3d gaming.
Upgrading with PCI based video card will be possible, and with some 815 based systems, adding an AGP card will be an option.
The good news is that, compared to other boards with built-in video, the Intel boards are generally more stable, and offer fewer compatibility problems than those based on SiS, VIA, or other chipsets.
Here is a reference link for information on current Intel chipsets: http://www.intel.com/design/chipsets...mainstream.htm
Thanks for the info and link, zaphod. The machine I'm using now has on-board video and sound and I'm hoping to stear clear of this on my next one. The local Best Buy, Circuit City, etc. seem to only offer this configuration, so I'm leaning back toward building over buying. Upgradability wasn't important before, but it is now. Thanks again. https://discussions.virtualdr.com/

I crash...therefore I am.
You are most welcome. I am just visiting VDr, sort of on a field trip from another internet.com board (HardwareCentral), but I wanted to chip in an answer or two while I was passing through.
A lot of major brand PCs are built with integrated motherboards. It helps save costs for components, and for labor to assemble the systems.
If you want to do some shopping I'd suggest going to www.pricewatch.com and looking at PC-Kits.
Use pricewatch in conjunction with www.resellerratings.com to find low prices from a dealer with a good reputation for internet commerce.
Zaphod: Perhaps you are correct that maximillian "deserved a better quality answer than that", but after being around here for so long, I've observed that 80 to 90 percent of the posters aren't looking for high detailed answers, but prefer simple ones. (Used to bowl them over with all kinds of details that just ended up confusing them) https://discussions.virtualdr.com/. That considered, I've tried to keep my answers as short and simple as possible (with as little technical jargon as possible) and, if they wanted more, I (or someone else) would provide that if necessary or requested. Don't get me wrong, your post was welcomed--just wanted to clear the air a bit.
sdtech: Hard drive makes/models are a toss-up. Quality has improved all around, so it's pretty much a matter of personal preference. But it's pretty much a "given" now to purchase 7200rpm, ATA 66/100 hard drives if you want to keep up with the Joneses. I prefer the Western Digitals over the Maxtors--seems the WD's are quieter. Seagate, Quantum, Fujitsu are all good brands. Usually folks have tried one, two or three brands and have just decided to stick with one. When it comes time to replace or add, they just prefer to stick with that brand.
Short = Good
Wrong = Bad
Zaphod
About those intel chips you listed. Might want to do some more research. All I will say about them.

Thanks for putting the links on one page. But, this thing is slow enough that I will wait till I get home to chase them again. https://discussions.virtualdr.com/

OOOOOOOOHHHHHHHHH, somebody pray for me. Just saw my next case here. https://discussions.virtualdr.com/ Needed at least two external 3.5's and room for two hard drives, yet be able to put a 120 intake fan on there. Maybe one of QoH's fancy PC windows.... https://discussions.virtualdr.com/ This one may be it...
https://discussions.virtualdr.com/ Sold out for now...maybe they'll restock.
Train, I'm curious about what you mean. If you'd care to share I'd be happy to see it. https://discussions.virtualdr.com/
