No, sorry. The advertisers would pull their ads if we did that, and then the forum would be gone.

thanks
just recalled an old trick, and clicked printable version.
THat's ok if you don't intend to post
I'd rather have the site with the ads..... then no site at all..... just one Kat's opinion ;)
Hey JT, just wanted to say it's real nice seeing you posting again, hope you decide to hang around my friend. ;) BJ
(BJ - as a small aside here, Mr. Doom was recently awarded Microsoft MVP status :))
Well thanks for that zip, let me be the first one here to congratulate him, well done JT. ;)Quote:

For tech help and a little bit of comradery along the way you guys are doing just fine. I wouldn't think of asking anywhere else first if I had a problem, and I wouldn't hesitate to offer a suggestion if I thougt I could help. The expertise is awsome.
Rock on,

Hi all,
Interesting thread. As a relative newcomer, geriatric and not technically very good, I have always found VDr helpful and welcoming. I must say I didn`t pick up on the tension bit.
Surveys are only as good as the questions asked " Have you stopped beating your wife?" springs to mind, so you need someone with expertise to get involved.
More power to the Dr!!!
LOL thanks guys.
Been busy remodeling, so I've not been here much myself, (and it shows, I'm getting quite rusty at some of the more complex areas of computing and hardware I learned here, ack!). Good to see you back, jaak! :) And I saw some posts by Maxx as well, comforting to see some "vets" return ;) And I see we got our web design forum - - how cool is that?! (Do miss Doc, who started this thread, and really hope all is well with him.)
Good to see ya, Kat....... :)
I am liking the return of the web design forum too.https://discussions.virtualdr.com/im.../2012/05/1.gif
Hi John
BJ, I realised that the award is public, and there are those that got the email. (some must have wondered whom this Jaack was...)
I wanted to stay on topic, but I could not ignore the congratulations once others chimed in.
btw, my sweetheart will love it when she hears I became a Vet.
Maybe her dogs will stop loving me... :D
The hours I spend researching about problems, or finding updated drivers for machines they bring in (and sometimes for a clueless forum member) made me comment to the MVP lead that much of my online life is spent invisible...
A google search about a problem can bring one anywhere nowadays.
I participate in more forae than ever before.
It is uncanny to see how tech support for motherboards is basically run by users... MSI, Gigabyte and Asus come to mind...
A vet will know how to formulate a question, I guess. A vet knows some keywords he can use in a search. These types of forae are limited, tho.
Anyhow, I feel Like Kat.
The pace of change in hardware is awesome, and I realised (like 80 years ago) I am always going to be behind the times.
It's a good thing there are forae like VDr.
and I think the puppy don't know yet, but it is a good thing there are Vets.
I'll congratulate you over here too Jaak .... a great achievement! http://redkittiekat.com/p9/24.gif
Yeah, Virtual Dr. is more than a little sick.
I tried out Seamonkey 1.0.2 on July the 9th, and two times out of four VDr crashed the browser. VDr has had ongoing problems for years and we have been told to "live with it".
VDR is malware, and their flippant attitude towards the members who are having problems ranks them alongside drive-by downloaders.
Remove me from the VDr database.

You try out some unknown little browser and because it crashes you blame the site? We do not delete accounts. If you don't want to use it, then don't use it.

The mind reels at what I've just read.
Your snarky belittling response is exactly what I posted about. Seamonkey, by the way, is the replacement for the Mozilla Suite. If you'd refer to the links I posted you'll be reminded of the ongoing problems with the ads and browsers. It's been going on for months and all you seem to want to do is toe the line with the advertisers.
What you don't seem to understand is that you ain't squat without people like me who gives your site hits. Your, and Jupier Media's, attitude towards this unresolved problem concerning your customers will not bode well for the long term.
And you obviously don't serve VDr well since you haven't even a clue concerning Mozilla, which no administrator or moderator of a computer site would be caught dead not knowing of.
Outta here.
I know about mozilla products. At best, I consider them so-so. EXTREMELY poor memory management, and profiles that get corrupted with every other sneeze. Check their forum and search on corrupt profile. You'll get more returns than either of us has hair on our entire bodies. Not to mention they tend to crash with every bump in the road. The best programmers are working high paying jobs in known software companies. Open source gets what's leftover. Farewell.
And on that note, have a nice day JoJo :) BJ
I for one happen to like the ads. The fine print forces me to use the lower reading lens of my bifocals....otherwise I wouldn't use them. Thanks to VDr, I'm following the advice of my optometrist. :)
I'm outta here......until my next post.......in.......oh.......about 5 minutes.
:D Bistro ...... that's why we love you :D
Where did that come from!!??!?!
I think someone needs to step outside and get some fresh air.
My browser never crashes from VDr.
Yeah, someone forgot to take their pill me thinks...
It is truly unfortunate that some folks have no use for 'compromise' in their vocabulary, no less their life, and fail to weight the positives against the negatives......but I guess that's what makes 'horse races'....:D
..and Abhoth's sig....priceless..!!
