Yes, hitting the back button isn't the problem when if I am already logged in. But if not logged in but viewing threads and then open an attachement (which forces the login) it gets a lot funkier to get back to the thread. And the point fink raised is also was something (that was) nice to have.
Just raising the issue. The majority can rule. :D
By the way, it's nice to see that Jupiter has provided a nice support structure behind ya to step forward in a pinch. (is there an echo when you say "hey guys, any one want to lend a hand?"). :D No comment expected back by the way.

The ads are a Jupitermedia decision, there is nothing that Joe can do about that. You can rest assured that we will let everyone's displeasure be known to the powers that be, though. I very much hope that it doesn't stop anybody from visiting - this is still a great site for getting computer help after all.Quote:

Since I can't edit my post (not sure why that was taken) I'll write a new one. If I gave the impression that I was blaming anyone here, namely JP, then please accept my sincerest apologies. Nothing of what I said was meant to put the blame on him, and I never felt like he was the one to make the decision. The work that he is doing for the forum is much appreciated by one and all!
I think the problem that a lot of poeple had previously was they had to scroll down 1.5 pages before they got to a thread because of all the ads and banner at the top of the page.
That has now been minimised by placement at the side but this the results in a reduction of page width by 1/3 to 1/2 depending on resolution and is actually more annoying.
And since now usually only the first post fits on a screen as soon as you scroll down to read pas the first post the ad is not visible anyway :) so it makes you wonder what use it is :confused:
I meant to say that the placement of the ads is a JM decision, sorry I wasn't very clear.
Are you saying that you can't edit your posts at all Usil? If so I'll get that looked into.

Usil, what browser, ad blockers, and/or firewalls? They're present for everyone else, so far. Can you post a screenshot?
In FF if you go Tools > Options > Web Features and uncheck Load Images, the pictures disappear, but it is erplace by text.
Incidentally this also gets rid of the ad and thus the whitespace LOL

JP another curiousity...right now I'm in IE and the post is all across the page....but on this same page (same time) in FFox the right column still exists and to get the right column out of the way in FFox I have increased the text size which pushes it aside.
could be my configs in each.....but I don't have a clue as to what?
Well they have fundamentally different rendering engines. I don't expect them to render exactly the same.
