ALICE keeps me happy!
I ran into RegVac the other day that really cleans the registry. It is only 185k or so. It found 183 registry settings that were nothing after norton windoctor and jv tools was finished.
It's not free however. Around 29.00
Great thread you got going here.
cheers, mac
If you are into making games and 3D animation, I'd say Blender is an absolute must have little do everything program. It's only 1.7 megs yet you can create film quality 3D animation that looks real.
It's amazing. The interface is not neccessarly intuative, but after reading the manual and getting use to it, you would be amazed how quickly you can do stuff. The manual empashizes having one hand on the keyboard and one hand on the mouse.
Of course, this program is GNU.
Use should definitly check it out if you're into anykind of animation or game making.
the site is blender3d.org
Go to education section to learn the basics how it works.
I found this program useful to me:
Popup AD-Filter or PAF
However, I was told that a certain program call Popup Cop is better. Is it true?
Also, since I dl lots of mp3 and sw, I found this program particularly useful. I can schedule and resume downloads. Great for multiple downloads.
Reget Deluxe
Both are available for a trial.
Fumiya
Best tool for passwor recovery
EDR Commander 2002
I second the vote for ERD Commander. It gives you the ability to recover from a lot on a dead server. It is a little expensive, but will repay itself (in labor alone) when it helps you save a downed or inaccessible server.
Hello,
Here is a link to a Little killer Internet conection program that uses no DLL's or any other intrusive files. It just has a .exe file that you double click to execute the file.
It allows you to use one internet connection to link a couple of computers together through a null serial cable. No need for any other external hardware or elaborate networking setups! Veryt simple to use. Netfor2 ;)
When I was in High School I took a C++ Course. The program we used wasn't bad, but for all of you out there who have been looking for a great little C++ Builder/Compiler, I recommend Dev-C++ by Bloodshed Software.
It actually detects errors much better than any other C++ builder I've ever used before. I used it just recently to make a probibility program. It's easy to use and free to try.
Cool Thread!
Since I work in Desktop Publishing and use my computer more for that type of work maybe I can add some programs besides the great ones already mentioned.
Run-It - http://www.magister-lex.at/RUNit/ - the beta version is a really small & unobtrusive launch pad that is quite configuable, allows launching of documents, folders, shortcuts, etc.
Yankee Clipper - http://www.yankee-clipper.net/ - A great clip cache freeware program, although I turned off the option to save bitmaps, since in my work that is a very large amount of stored data.
FreeShade - http://www.hmmn.org/FreeShade/ - A utility that rolls the window up so that the blue bar is only visible, making the PC's windows act like a Mac. Great for Pitstop Pro where the windows are almost to big to allow editing of PDF files while the Pitstop Inspector is open. BEWARE - do not close the window while rolled-up If you do quit FreeShade then open the window again.
Quite A Box of Tricks - http://www.quite.com - A non-crippeling Demo Plug-in for Adobe Acrobat. It will tell the resolution of a highlighted picture and also what the highlighted font is & whether it is embedded.
ADC (Advanced Disk Cataloger) by Elcom - a great disk cataloging shareware that is a stand alone program, does not integrate into the OS which slows down searching & also slows the boot-up.
I have alot more, but these are the "little" programs, mostly freeware that I use everyday.
e-sword v. 7 FREE
e-sword has everything a person would need in a Bible, and there are many many extras for it. Such as more than 30 different versions of the Bible, plus Commentaries, Dictionaries, Graphics (Maps), Devotions, Step Libraries, and many Extras.
In my opinion, if a person was to buy e-sword in a store, they'd pay at least $100 for it, 'cause it'll be well worth it.
Trinity Rescue Kit is a very small linux distro with networking support used for system rescue (linux and windows), you'll need to know a little linux but it's a very useful tool.
Just burn it to a bootable cd-rom.
RB :)
A lot of great stuff in here! Here are a couple that haven't been mentined:
BaseConv 3.5 - Decimal/Hex/Binary/Octal/Bcd/ASCII Conversion Calculator. Saves TONS of time when programming. I couldn't live without it. http://www.rwsoft.co.uk/
ZSNES - great super nintendo emulator http://www.zsnes.com/
i second znes gotta love playin mario or donkey kong on the comp =)
