Hello. I'm Tor. I'm sort of an artist and sort of a dork/nerd. I draw animals in an anime-like way. And I like video games. I'm also bad at introducing myself.
...And I might come here alot because my laptop hates me. :S

:)Hi All,
I 'm from Toronto, Ontario in Canada. Since Toronto is considered a great hockey town, I have to let you all know that I'm a true blue MAPLE LEAFS fan!!
GO LEAFS GO
Love using the computer for a variety of things - business and personal, and am considering changing from a Windows PC to a MAC, specifically an 'Apple MacBook Pro.' If anyone would care to comment, I would appreciate hearing from you. Thanks.
CarBob
Welcome Bob. Hockey fan myself, here. Rangers, of course. I have little experience with macs, I'm strictly pc so I can't comment on that, but welcome to VDR.

Welcome aboard Bob!! :)
Hi CarBob,
For the last 15 years I have been working on Macs and PCs as I am in IT at a newspaper. In the beginning PCs were not good for graphics because of the limitations to memory and the workarounds required when needing more than 640 Kb. Macs however, were never very stable, hense one would say graphics were all they should be used for. I used to say, when I find someone using a Mac for their account receivables I would then feel safe to use one. Nowdays, both are stable and both have adopted the user friendly GUI that makes the user less intimidated. So either is fine and don't worry about all the arguments you may hear about one or the other from both sides. This is usually a bad topic to open but both Macs and PCs are good.

This forum really seems like a friendly and helpful one.
The main reason that I'm considering switching to a Mac is because the users claim that Macs never get viruses. Of course, there is an anti-virus program installed on my Windows PC, and so far, so good.
CarBob
I have a PC and never got a virus. Prevention is the name of the game. Of course, I am sure Mac users never told you that they would die to have the choice of programs that a PC user has. ;)
I'm not really new here but i havent introduced myself formerly so here goes.

Welcome to you and Luckymurari.
CarBob
I read an article on MSN Technology, im an avid news reader i enjoy the politics / technology areas. Anyways one of the tech articles i read was about the introduction of Intel CPU's into the new Mac's that were being released. (Keep in mind i read this a few months back, im looking for it right now when i find the page i will link it) The person that wrote the article was explaining something about how intel proccessors originaly had alot of secuirty holes. They went on too say that with the incorporation of Intel CPU's and software into Mac's might be seen as the beginning of many more security / virus loopholes if you will. I hope i can find the article for you too read for yourself. Because i was always under the assumption that MAC's were the most secure against virus's. Dont get me wrong there are viri out there that do attack mac's the same as UNIX or Windoze. But i was under the impression they were are alot more un-common.

I have been on some Mac forums, and still can't decide. It seems that Mac users (I hate to say it), give one the impression of being 'elitist' when they are talking about their beloved Macs. And they definitely look down their noses at Windows PCs.
I probably will stick with a Windows PC, at least until the new Operating Systems for both Windows and Macs come out in '07, and then decide.
CarBob
Im sorry i havent been able too find you that news article carbob, i went looking in the archive but im not sure what month it was and there are alot of articles each day. I think for the most part that it takes a "special" kind of person too run a mac. I belive that your idea too wait for the new OS is a really good idea, as i have noticed that usually Feb of the new year is when alot of new hardware/software gets released.
We all see a huge drop in the price of hardware/software in a very short period of time. When i built this PC in feb of last year it cost me $1200CDN altogether, i had priced it out for Oct however at that time it was just over $1600CDN. So something too think about, just keep in mind there are 3 constants in the universe. Death, Taxes, and Computer Failures. LOL!
Hi MaD Raptor,
You can say that again!! (About Death, Taxes and Computer failures.)
