If they have a different Workgroup Name then you wont see them in Network Neighborhood, but you will see them in Entire Network.
You wont be able to hide them unless you keep them on seperate networks.. but then you wont be able to share files/access etc.
All I can suggest is that you Password Protect the Workgroups.
I haven't tried using 2 network cards in the one computer, but it may offer a way around your problem. A little research may produce a solution.
What OS are you using. I have setup win 98 boxes to block ability to view Network Neighborhood with poledit. Poledit ships on your OS CD. Because it is a registry editing tool, be careful!! and dont do anything your not certian of. If you need help with it or cant find the app, please post again and I will give more details.
I don't know that there is anyway to remove the computers from network neighborhood. You can hide the shares, so no one can get to those computers once there.
Make any shares hidden with a $ in the name of the share.

thanks for all your help guys. machines are win98 FE and Se mix. The entire network is the thing that opens up the rest of the school. I am going to try a bit with poledit but other than that, unless absolutely necessary, that RJ45 gets unplugged from the hub
Hidden shares will stop casual browsing, but it's easy to interrogate a machine and get the names of all its shares, including hidden ones.
You could setup Zonealarm, set LAN security to HIGH then no one will get to you.
