visually knowing new threads

I visit the site both at work and at home.

I had some trouble at the start getting the cookies right. I believe they are now the same at work and at home.

At work, when I open, let's say, General Software I see red folders next to the threads that have new information added to them since my last visit but I do not see this on my home machine.

Is there a third cookie that I am deleting on my home machine that I have not located on my work machine?
I have both virtualdr cookie and the cgi-bin cookies.

At work I am using Win98SE with IE5.1sp2 and at home I am using Win98FE with IE5.5sp2 I think it is sp2. It is version 5.50.4807.2300CO

I really like the red folders so I can tell the new items (red folders) from the already seen items (yellow folders).

Am I missing something that is fixable?

Right click on the link that takes you here and click "Properties". Check what's listed in the "URL" space and insure that they are both the same. Check that "BypassCookie=false" is the ending for both.

dennis-what 'url space' exactly?
i tried your suggestion,this resulted in not being able to post- VDr.did not recognize user name. i did a restore, to get that back.
some more specific directions on this would be helpful for us cookie challenged folks.

what i did that required me to do a restore-
where you set the home page[i have VDr/xp page.] i added on the end...bypasscookie=false

i don't have =true on the end of the url at this moment.
in NIS i have everything permitted for VDr.and in msie,privacy tab,VDr. is 'always allowed'.
still no red folders.what am i missing?

I had been "missing" the red folders, too, just clicked "Preferences" and hit submit, they came right back when I went to first forum. Does end with bypass cookies=true, now.

stranged just tryed the link and it worked.are your cookies on.

yes the link works as far as getting there only. i have all cookies enabled/allowed for vdr in msie and nis.i have xp now, did not get red folder in 98 neither. maybe has something to do with nis-but have everything allowed there-just for vdr.
should i add the cgi-bin thingy ? this isn't rocket science,,or is it.

are u using some kind of program that erased the cookies or something.Otherwise i'm lost. Btw it has nothing to do with your account on the board it all has to do with cookies.For some reason the board don't see your cookies since u last visit.

the only cookies missing are the red folder ones.everything else works. now it keeps my user name and password on the post a reply page, even after closing the browser and then coming back to vdr. it never did that before.
i will write down all my settings re: this. then post it on the xp board.maybe not till thurs.though.

At home I use a shortcut on the Links bar. I will check it when I get home and post back.
