Opening file extensions .SP and .TD

HELP!!!

I have some data for a really urgent project trapped in files with these extensions. I have found out that .TD is a turbo debugger configuration file for DOS and .SP is a splint compressed archive file (UNIX) but have not been able to find out how I go about opening them. My computer appears as confused as me (traitor!) and it's on-line programme search came up empty handed.

I really need this data so If there is any bright spark out there who can help me please please do!

Hi emmz1,
If you know the file extension that the files were originally saved to, you can go into DOS and rename them to that file extension and then open them as normal.The example below would be for changing the extension for a Word Document (.doc);

Go to START then RUN then type in COMMAND then OK
Type in DIR the ENTER
Then type REN then a space then the COMPLETE DOCUMENT NAME as it appears on the RIGHT side of the menu (whatever.exe)
Tap the SPACEBAR once then type *.DOC
Hit ENTER

Hi John,

Thank-you for your reply - I will see if it works. However the files were saved with these odd extensions originally and it is really finding a programme that will open them that is my problem. I found another list of file extensions that says the micrografx ABC snap graphic programme should open the extension .SP unfortunately the micrografx web site no longer has that programme. The second extension is apparently a teledisk archive file but I know no more than that!

Emma, I get the feeling that any Windows-based application is going to struggle to get anything out of those files.

You could try Word's "recover text from any file" import filter but I don't think you're going to get very far https://discussions.virtualdr.com/

Sounds like your snap graphic programme is similar to Microsoft's Access Snapshot viewer (it has a .snp file extension).
Oh well, thought I'd give it a try.
