IE5.1 download
I have had good luck with IE5.1 and I am not sure of IE5.5. Does anyone know the procedure of how to download 5.1 from M$ or somewhere else to a file so I can burn a copy so when I format I don't have a 3hr download every time?
Thanks

Hello- There are several posts about Internet Explorer downloads back in the Win98Forum-see the link on main page, dont select Todays Actives, just click on the 98forum- scroll down through the posts, look for IE titles, I think they are back about page 4,5,6- they contain the active hyperlinks to go to, as well as some great info about downloading that avoids using the
Active Setup feature, where you have to first download the small program that enables the 2-3 hr download to start- this way, you can save the setup to your hard drive and start it later, when you have time, read all the posts about that. I have used www.tucows.com, a software server that works really well- on last Friday, I downoaded 29+ MB of IE5.01 took over 2 hrs, but only stopped a few times- sometimes, the Microsoft page will not even let you start the small download, and it disconects a lot.
Remember to decide in advance what features you want, they are pick and choose, but also a full download is available; some features are vital- I selected Custom Install, and if I didnt choose a feature that is vital, it said so, so I guess its more or less foolproof. If you have trouble with IE5.5, you can uninstall it. I was using the Repair IE Tool, through Add/Remove Programs on the Control Panel, said it couldnt repair the copy of IE I had, so had to reinstall it- it worked! Have fun.
