Weird mouse problem
This is one of those "you gotta see it to believe it" things
A client of mine has the exact mouse that I do. Its a Mouse Systems PS/2 optical type 2544 using the special optical mousepad. Its been working fine until yesterday
He turned the system on yesterday morning and everything was fine. Being a beautiful day, he went out to work in the yard for a couple of hours
When he powered up he immediately noticed a weird mouse problem. Without touching the mouse or the pad, moving his hand over the mouse would cause the mouse pointer to jump around erradically. The closer he moved his hand to the mouse the more the pointer would jump. As he moved his hand away it quit.
The mouse pointer would follow the direction of his hand movements but jump all over.
He tried powering down & reseating the mouse several times. Same problem
His wife came home & had the same problem. She powered down the system, turned it back on & it was fine. When I got there it worked fine.
I am thinking that this has to be caused by some sort of electro-magnetic interference. The problem started after he was in the sun for a couple of hours.
This is really reaching, but is it possible for solar activity, like flares, to affect a mouse?

If it was an optical mouse, AND upside down, that would explain it. Also, if it was on a REFLECTIVE surface the beam could pick up movement above.

Woww! I wish my mouse had the same behavior with that. (I would make my friends go coocoo with this trick) https://discussions.virtualdr.com/
I also have a "mouse-encounter of 3rd type" story to tell.It was last July when i turned on the cooling fan and every time the air stream was heading to my optical mouse the pointer was moving. No matter if i was holding the mouse or not.. the pointer was moving.I was forced to work bathed in sweat all July because of this stupid "scientific phenomenon".
** Some days later i told the same story to a friend of mine who found it "completely natural" because, as he said, the air was moving the otical ray therefore the mouse pointer.
I answered to him that if some day the weather is windy he shouldn't open his room's windows cause the light would escape and leave the night would come again **

PCS,
Here's my guess...shadows cast on the pad from his hand. https://discussions.virtualdr.com/ Lighting may have been different for the other users involved. How's that for a reach. https://discussions.virtualdr.com/

I crash...therefore I am.

I dont understand this because he says that this exact thing happened again today.
He is a good client and a friend. I have every reason to trust what he is saying to be so
How is this possible?
How can this be occuring just all of a sudden?
Im fixin to phone the parish priest or toss some chicken bones in the air folks! Might call that taro card reader thats on the cable
This doesnt make any sense. Its not logical!
Whats causing it?
