Im totally stumped on this one
I cannot figure this one out to save my soul!
Heres what we got
My neighbor who is a client of mine had a failing hard drive and an extremely weird situation that occured in Outlook Express only
I would swear it cant be if I didnt see this one myself!
If you bring up Outlook Express and address an email that starts with the letter J as the first character nothing appears as text but the cursor moves. You type the rest as if the letter J was there and it works fine. It emails correclty
Now this gets weirder
I replaced his hard drive due to bad sectors. I reloaded it myself. Clean load the way I always do it for everyone including myself. Its clean Windows 98SE. IE 5.5
I thought keyboard.
Wrong
Replaced it
ONLY the J key does not show up in Outlook Expresss and ONLY as the first character when you type an email address. every other character it works fine
Further if you continue on and type the remaining emial address it works
I replaced the hard drive and loaded clean like I said .Clean load new hard drive. Windows & IE 5.5
I replaced the keyboard
What the hell?
Two keyboards do the same thing. Clean Windows. ONLY the letter J does that if it is the first character of an email address.
I just formatted this. Its clean Windows,
Comuputers are logical, Theres always a reason but this has me thoroughly stumped!
Two hard drive versions of Windows, Two keyboards doing exacly the same thing
Im stumped!
Ahhh Eureak says the blind man maybe! The difference betweed this and every other setup I have done is that I have the Global IME character set installed!
I answered my own qestion by thinking it through. The Global IME is doing that!
Thanks for all the help! It helps to think this thorugh!
