Outlook 98
We Have a small network running outlook 98.
Each user has a profile containg microsoft mail & internet mail.We can all send & receive internet e-mail & internal mail/messages.BUT Whenever a user sends an
internal message the modem starts dialing & connects to the isp trying to send the message onto the internet,even though it is a local message.The message is received by the local user but our phone bill & isp costs have gone sky high.I hope someone can
offer some suggestions.Thankyou for your time

Make sure all but the server is configured to send using the LAN not a dial up account.
* Options
* Click on the Accounts button
* Choose the Mail tab
* Choose the Properties button
* Choose the Connection tab
* Choose Connect using my LAN.
Make sure only this option is selected
Outlook should no longer attempt to dial up.
IF, in fact, each machine needs to connect to the internet to send and receive non-local e-mail, I would suggest getting some internet connection sharing software, or use Win Pop up for messages between the machines on the LAN. Failing this you could always shout to each other. hth
