LINUX Newbie...
I've got a dual boot Win95/NT ,so I figured why not LINUX .I d/l Mandrake 7.1 ISO(649 megs) and burned it to CD,but when I try to access it(In Win95) says"M: is not accessible file system error [4624]".Is this a bad burn or a problem trying to access linux files in Win ?If I don't go with the ISO ,what files do I need to setup Mandrake?Can someone point me to a good site with instructions ,the http://www.linux-mandrake.com/en/ site gives instructions for loading from CD,but not alternative method.
Thanks for any help,

Update ;
I've been able to burn the ISO to disc and read it, the only problem is its a copy of the ISo and not the files the iso contains.I have a friend with cable modem ,burner and EZcd Software I'll try sending him the ISO and see if he can get it to work.
If anyone has any idea how I can get Linux (at this point I'm willing to try any version)on this computer speak up ,the guy I'm going to have burn it for me lives several hours away ,so I won't be able to pick up discs for several weeks.I know I could buy a version ,but I hate to pay for something I can legally get for free.

what burning software are you using in Windows. If you are using EZCDcreator there is an option in the file menu to create a cd from an image. Select this option and choose the iso image format. You should then be ready to burn.

I was using Nero 4.0.9.1 ,but I've given up on the ISO Idea I've d/l all the files from Here 979megs .Which files do I need to put on a CD to make an install disk?

I dont have 7.1, but I do have 7.0 . The contents of the directory you linked to in your above post are nearly identical in format to the contents of my 7.0 cd. Everything but the lnx4win directory. Try simply copying all those directories (again, minus the lnx4win directory) to a cd, and use the utility found in the dosutils directory to make a boot disk from the file found in the images directory. Put the floppy and cd in their respective drives and reboot. Cross your fingers and grab a coffee.

The Mandrake folder itself has 963 mgs ,it has two RPMs ones 347mgs the other is 568.
Wait a minute one of the two Iso files I d/l was 348 ,so if I leave that one off it gives me632megs.hmmmm gotta go burn!

I hope here is solution,what will help you in all this kind of troubles! https://discussions.virtualdr.com/
I run into pretty complicated situation,when i
decieded to try linux on my windows based pc.
Problem is that most distributions (mandrake,suse,redhat)are easyest to download as iso image files.On our plextor cd recorder (plexwriter12/10/32 internal scsi)turned out that using nero it is not possible tu burn an image as normal cd layout.
Also this writer is not supported by roxios(previous adaptec)easy cd creator deluxe software by all versions 4.xx
So-had image,but no software to burn!?
solution was found on this page:http://www.winimage.com/winimage.htm
winimage beta 5.002 opened my layout fine and now i dont have problems with burning it any more:=)
