Thanks Mike. I will use this and also have the running linux 3rd edition and am on page 16. I know you suggested Debian but I'm a little to orientated tword windows to jump directly to Debian. what do you think of SuSE,or getting around the Promise IDE Controler So I Can use the Corel Linux I already have.

Delighted and Intrigued by things unseen.
I'm currently running kernel version 2.4.1. Although I'm not using the Promise IDE Controler, when I go to rebuild the kernel, doing make xconfig, under the ATA/MFM/RLL support button, I have the choice of selecting the PROMISE PDC20246/PDC20262/PDC20267 support. So, depending on which kernel your using, it may be that all you have to do is re-build you kernel to get the support you need. -mk
