HIMEM error

I've gotten a new motherboard and when I loaded DOS 6.22 and boot it for the first time, I get an extended memory error. I tried the /cpuclock http://dev.discussions.virtualdr.com.../1998/10/1.gifn / command and I still get it. The only way I can get it to run is using the /memtest http://dev.discussions.virtualdr.com.../1998/10/1.gifff command. Can that cause problems down the road? P.S. I already know my SIMMS are good. P.S.S I was using 2 16 meg EDO and 2 16 meg FP. if that makes any difference.

Usually if Himem reports memory error it means actual damage of memory chips. But in your case (if you're sure the chips is OK) it can be result of different type of chips mixing. Try to remove FP chips and look if errors is gone. Then remove EDO chips and check FP. If each type of chip works fine then the problem is in type mixing and you need to use chips of the same type.
