SyQuest Driver trouble
I bought a SyQuest drive a few years ago from MacWarehouse, and used one of the cartridges to store my fonts on. Since then, I've switched computers (IIci to PowerCenter 180MT) and operating systems (7.5.3 to 8.5). When I went back to get some fonts from my SyQuest cartridge, the OS displayed the volume as an empty 84MB FWB hard drive. Not good.
My PowerCenter uses an FWB driver for the CD-ROM. Also, I did run FWB Disk Tools once, but I certainly didn't modify any cartridge drivers with it; the drive wasn't even on!
Anyway, my problem seems to be the driver on the cartridge itself, not some sort of loading order problem in the System Folder. The disk formatting software that came with my SyQuest drive, Spot On from MacPeak, doesn't recognize the bad driver and refuses to update or overwrite it.
Now, my questions are:
1. Is it even possible to get at the data on my SyQuest cartridges, or was it all pretty much lost for good the instant the driver was overwritten?
2. If it is possible to get my data back, would it have to be through DriveSavers or a similar type of company, or would it be possible to download some software and forcibly overwrite the driver myself?
