XP - Drive letters
I have just installed XP Home
My Drives are labelled thus:
A - floppy A
C - hard drive (30Gb)
D - Iomega internal Zip
E - DVD
F - CD-RW
(There is no B drive)
I have another 30Gb unallocated on the HDD
Later on I want to allocate the spare 30Gb as Drive D
My question concerns the Zip Drive letter
I know I can change the drive letter of the Zip from D to B
My question is - do I have to do anything about the Drivers and\or Iomega software or will Windows look after that?
Should I uninstall the Iomega software before changing the Drive letter or is it a non-problem?
Apart from the Iomega stuff I've not installed any software yet
Thanks

Microsoft reserves B for the second floppy drive. This was very common on early systems.

Thanks - I know that was the case but when I had ME the Zip was the Floppy B and that's how I want it now, so that I can make my second Hard drive D
I just want to know if it's necessary to uninstall the Drivers\Zip Software before changing the Drive letter to B and then to re-install
Don't want to do that if it's not necessary

I have changed my Zip drive letter to Z: and it's worked fine, but then again I never installed any iomega software. I prefer to use the Windows built-in drivers. I would just try it and if it didn't work I would change it back or do the reinstall. Of course, there could be mishaps, so follow advice at own risk.
