steved, If referring to the autoplay of cd's try this:
1. Go to Start->Run->gpedit.msc
2. Computer Config -> Administrative Template -> System
3. Double click Turn off Autoplay
4. Enable it.

Who is General Failure and why is he reading my hard disk?
Hi Cornerpocket,
I tried that and it couldn't find gpedit or gpedit.msc. It's the home edition of XP, if it makes a difference...
Cheers
Steven
It's all in tweakui, in Powertoys for XP
free download from Microsoft
Chris.
Thanks Chris, but I'm looking for a setting that's already there in XP (without having to download)...I've searched everywhere but can't seem to find it. Customers seem to be having issues with CD's not loading and XP...all I have at the moment is a registry key that can be modified but more often than not it doesn't correct problem...
Can anyone help??
Hi Steved
Heres the registry key that works 100% of the times that I have used it
Settings:
Key: [HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\Services\CDRom]
Name: Autorun
Type: REG_DWORD (DWORD Value)
Value: (0=disable, 1=enable)
If this does'nt work then as Chris said download powertoys from MS as as far as I know with XP Home they are the only two ways that you can alter the autorun feature...

Hi smiffy,
Yeah thats the key I normally use. The reason I don't want download tools is its for customers machines (some don't have internet)..
Thanks anyways....
Hi again Steved
I don't know if you have tried the updates for XP and CD related problems. As you probably know there is a patch at MS for it and if your customers who do not have access maybe you could put the file on a floppy or burn it to a CD and used on your travels to see if it can resolv the issues...
