I would like to know if putting NT server
edition and NT client each on 2 computers
at home is a good way to help learn about
windows NT. I will take a course when I can
but I am very busy and cannnot spare a lot of
time and money right now.
I would like to know if anyone has ever done
this and If it is a good idea.

It's by far the best way...Classroom is fine, but you need hands on to reinforce what you learned in class. I have been thru all the classes, but I'll have to say I've learned more at the house with a small network of my own than in class. You get exposure to managing an NT enterprise, but not real world hands on practical experience. In other words...Go for it!!!!
Server and two workstations is better still; and the workstations can be old 486, if you don't mind the slight drop in overall performance... Check in any MCSE manual for the minimum specs... (homework...)
Bookpool.com is regarded as reasonable source for tech type books; usually better than the 'big river company...'; also Barnes & Noble on-line is also said to be better than that 'big river company...'
The Sybex series are worth investment, and anything by Mark Minasi is 'well worth' the $$$'s; he does an excellent Server manual: Mastering NT Server, and a similar one for NTWS.
There are also excellent tutorials on-line at various places; if you want some pointers come back and I'll try and dig out a few from my notes... And don't overlook the NT Help files; they contain a lot uf useful info..
Enjoy 'playing/experimenting'; it's the best way to get across it.
