How to remove a "run= in Win.ini?

msconfig\ win.ini\ windows.
run and load are suppose to = (nothing)
Correct?
After loading my printer I have a run= hpfsched. I edited it and unchecked it but is there a way to clear it?
Also device= HP Deskjet Printer. This is OK?

Hi Carson,

HPFSCHED is a small TSR [Terminate and Stay Resident] that will remind you to clean the cartridges in your DeskJet in order to keep print quality high.

It can be removed from the run line in win.ini if you do not want that feature.

As for the Device, That also should be there.

Beside run=, just remove everything to the rught of the equal sign and close the file saving changes. Make sure the spaces in between the lines of text stay the same.

Leave the printer entry alone.

Check your available resources by right-clicking My Computer; clicking Properties; Click the Performance tab. Resources available are displayed as percent there at top. Check it when you get done running the System Configuration Utility mentioned below.

Click the Start button; Run; type 'msconfig', without the quoatation marks, in the Run box and click OK; Then click the Startup tab; Uncheck anything you don't need running in the background. For reference on what's not needed running in the background in the System Configuration Utility, view this website first and print out the list:

All I run at startup is Scanregistry and systray. I load ZA and virus program from desktop shortcut before going online. Thanks for the link though. A good one to save.
