I have some questions re EZTrust Antivirus

Hi,
I just purchased and installed EZTrust Antivirus and I have a couple of questions (as usual).
Under "Scan Type" there is fast scan and full scan. The default is fast scan and that's what's set, but is that good? (In another area I have it set to "scan all files").
Under "Advanced Cleaning Options" (On Demand Scan) all options are checked. So, is an "on demand scan" any scan that I manually perform and if a virus is found are all of the cleaning methods available and does EZTrust just do the cleaning?
Also, under "Report Results of Scan" I checked "show warning" but wouldn't it give me a warning regardless of checking that?
Under "Real Time Scanning" action -uncleanable file- I have report and deny access. But if access is denied how do you get rid of the virus?? (Rescue disk maybe?)

Re RESCUE DISK:
I read the read me files and please let me know if I understand the instructions correctly. You have to have EZTrust updated regularly (it seems to me the Rescue disk uses the updated dat files for the cleaning which are stored in EZTrust, and not the disk - is this correct?)
And, first you have to use your Windows Start up disk and at the A:\ prompt (after removing the Start up disk and inserting the Rescue disk) you type in A:\Rescue.EXE /?

I really don't know too much more than you do, butt here goes.....
The Fast scan I feel is the best way to go.
Fast scan ...scans as many files as the Full one does, ...I ran both and the total files scanned was the same, the full took a little longer so I think it probably goes a little deeper??
As for cleaning, the problem I had with GoBack it couldn't clean but it renamed the file, even tho I had clean as the option.
They will give you a warning if a virus is found if you have it configured that way under program, even if show warning is not checked.( I think that refers more to the files it can't open and scan).
As for getting rid of the virus, I think once you know what it is, info can be found for cleaning it out, if they can't clean it.

Hope some of this makes sense.

nancee, some of the confusion comes from the on demand option to scan you PC files for viri and "clean".
You should set this for deep, ie maximum penetration and "all" file types, you should also set it to "clean" for "infected files" and "report only" for uncleanable ones.

Rational: the cleaning method for cleanable files is misleading as if it finds an infected file, it will.
1. Clean registry
2. Clean ini files
3. Kill process
4. Rebootable clean
5. Delete trojan/worms/droppers
6. Delete damaged files

Now as you can see this is a tad more than cleaning. (see 6. above LOL)

Now if it cannot perform these functions safely (ie without screwing up ya PC) it will go to the uncleanable option and this I personally have set to "Report only".

This maywill leave you with a file, that you cannot access to delete/open/ or check properties. So you turn off the EZ Antivirus Scanner and delete it.BUT Just in case it is a file like vmm32.vxd that is infected, in which case using the auto delete or manual for uncleanable defeats the purpose, you will stuff your PC if this file is deleted, infected or not!, you will have too reinstall Windows 98 again. However in the meantime as it is Quarantined in this fashion (which I like) you have time to transfer your digital certificates, mp3`s, 954 page books you have spent 12 years writing, etc onto a CD or whatever.

Now when it comes to "real time" protection, I cross my fingers that it is using just as deep a scanning system as the on demand scan, if not well there is always on demand scan.

Moral of the story, if you inattentive enough to let some drunk into your house and muck it up, make sure you can lock the door behind them so you can force them to clean up the mess, if they too pissed at least you can contain them while you contemplate the best options available.

Or does that sound like I am pissed...

And as far as "rescue disks" go if the above does not work, the viri/us is/are so sophisticiated, that a fdisk and destroy Boot disk/insert another non-infected one/pause/reboot or Low level format is my personal option.

I keep a lot of clean EBD`s handy.

Damn boot sector/memory resident, golly...

Nancee, Under Options, Program, File Types-if you don't have "All Files" checked which I don't, you might want to add some file extensions to "Files of these types". You can find a good list here: http://www.ceepeeu.com/b35vir.html

Thank you for your advice. I meant to get back to you sooner but encountered 2 problems that at this point I don't even want to get into - I'm hoping if I ignore both they'll go away.
I also contacted tech support at Mach's suggestion https://discussions.virtualdr.com/ and they told me the same as you did so I changed my settings in Cleaning Options and Real Time Protection re Uncleanable files to Report only. I appreciate your advice.
