Questions re Zone Alarm
Hi,
Is version 2.6.362 of Zone Alarm good? I vaguely recall it may have had problems...
Also, I have Windows 98se and I use Audiogalaxy. I just read about using that with a firewall and it says you may have to leave a bunch of ports open if you have any problems, and it also says if you have Windows 98se:
Windows 98 SE ICS
The version of Internet Connection Sharing provided with Windows 98 Second Edition requires configuring. A program to do this is available here. You will also require the configuration .INF file available on that site, or configute it yourself.
I went to that link and they gave 5 or 6 different versions of thi ICS and I don't know what they're talking about.
I downloaded ZA but I haven't installed it yet - can anyone tell me if I will need to do something special re this ICS, because I don't want to install it and then have problems. (The uninstall seems like a nightmare.)
Thanks very much.
Sincerely, Nancee
Any other advice re setting it up, etc. is appreciated.

Do you use ICS (Internet Connection Sharing)? If not, don't worry about it. I have the latest version of Zonealarm, and it works fine. I use WinMX and Morpheus, Zonealarm asks if you want to allow access to all of these programs, so Audiogalaxy will be fine.
If you do use ICS, just do what it says, its not too difficult.
Its better to be up to date with the ZoneAlarm software, to be the most secure and safe!

Strange.. my version is 2.6.88.2.2 (I downloaded this ver. last april) The zonelabs download page(s) seems to be the latest as you have posted.
My version also states "true vector version 2.6.88, true vector driver loaded 2.6.88)
Probably doesn't make much difference but if somebody could explain?

MACH2--ZA just seemed to go backward in their numbering system after version 2.6.88, though lately they are moving up again. Don't know there is an explanation.

Mach,,do you have "check for updates automatically" checked? I just leave it enabled and it will check for you when online. At least it did for me for the last update. It now says version 3.6.362 ...

Thanks everyone for your replies.
David, I don't think https://discussions.virtualdr.com/ I use ICS since I'm not familiar with it. Thanks for pointing that out. I appreciate your advice on that and the latest version of ZA. I guess I'll go ahead and install it then.
