OExpress, Kernel32.dll, Exception error

Every time I open Outlook Express I get an error message that msinn has created a problem - kernel32 dll has created an exception - error code c0000005 and windows prevented use of memory at 0xffffff - tried lots of reloads ie6 repair etc but cannot fix - have searched this site and msn help/knowledgebase and followed lots of links but cant find an answer. Have also closed all other running progs inc anti virus but to no avail - help? Despite this OE still recieves and sends so can use it off line.............

I would reorganize your efforts with MSN messenger. It is directly connected to Outlook Express code, but only beneath the surface. Try reinstalling or fixing it.

Thanks - tried that. Have uninstalled/reinstalled outlook Express, reverted to IE5 after two attempts to repair IE6 and uninstalled Messenger. No benefit. It seems that something is trying to use memory that is not allowed. Any further thoughts?

Kento's suggestion of a virus scan is a good idea.

There's a kernal32.dll issue with the Badtrans virus.

Thanks - no viruses found either with resident AVG or online Housecall. Not sure what to make of "INFO: Bitwise Complement Operator Appears to Fail on Comparison" as I am unsure what is being compared and C programming a bit beyond me. Any other ideas?

Problem resolved!!!!
Not sure which action helped but - I re-set all the connection settings and deleted a lot of stuff that was sitting in my inbox (which included a number of mails with attachments) logged off/on and hey-presto all is now functioning as it should/did. Would welcome views on earlier post about whether viruses can sit "dormant" in attachments and not be found by virus checkers? Thanks for your input
