Troubling playing gifs!
When I get animated gifs in the email they
won't play.
I can't get them to play on my hard drive
either.
Yet,I have a web page and those stored on my hard drive will play on the web page.
I know they used to play on my hard drive.
I am not aware of turning anything off so that gifs won't play.
Any suggestions or solutions?

This has been posted so many times but:
Left click to highlight
the file, hold down shift and right click highlighted file, then click open
with, then scroll down list for the program to open with, highlight that, then
tick always open this type file....and click OK.
I as most do here suggest you D/L IrfanView an absolute great freebie. http://www.irfanview.com/

You say you have some animated GIFs on a web page. If you view this web page in your web browser, are the GIFs animated?
Which web browser do you use?
When you double-click a GIF to open it, which program does it open in?
If you are viewing GIFs in Internet Explorer, you might want to go to Tools > Internet Options > Advanced tab, and in the Multimedia section, put a check beside 'Play animations in web pages' and click OK.
If that doesn't work, here is a fix that will make GIFs open in Internet Explorer, and should fix any other GIF problems that you have. Download this REG file and double-click it to Merge it with the Registry.
You could also consider downloaded a FREE image viewer called IrfanView.

ONE HUMAN,
When I view the animated gifs in my web browser they work. I use both Netescape and IE.
When I double click a gif it opens in MicroSoft Photo Editor.
I have already got "play animations in web pages" clicked OK.
I will try the other two suggestions and let you know if they worked.
Thanks!

One Human,
Your suggestions worked.
Thanks!

You're welcome. Glad it to hear it's fixed. Did you use the REG Fix, or download Irfanview, or both?

One Human,
I did both. It worked already when I did the reg fix thing, but I thought it wouldn't hurt to have a back up as it were.
Thanks again!
