Note the programs that are in the ctl- alt -delete . One of them is probably the culprit.
Just wondering, with all the viruses running the net, when did you last do a antivirus scan using the updated definitions. And you antivirus could be the culprit. Suggest looking for a virus first .
your other question is here

Hey guys thanks for your responses. We run a Mcafee virus scan at the start up of the computer. Would that catch the virus? It has not been shutting down for sometime now and just had a minute to asked you guys about it along with the log on thing. Have not checked out the posts for it yet. If the mcaffee doe snot work, please let me know what is the best solution to catch a virus. Thanks

McAfee works, But will admit I have used it and HATE it because of problems like yours. Personnal likes / dislikes.
Might want to look at this also.
OK, This needs to be done anyway as it will help your computer.
Lets see if we can free up some resources.
Do Start > Run > MSCONFIG > Start up tab
This will list all of the programs being started at boot time. The icons in the bottom right of the screen.
Leave
ScanRegistry
SysTray
Your Antivirus
Your firewall if you run one.
Unselect all of the rest, reboot
As well, if you are unsure of what they are, post back the items in the list, maybe someone will know.
See the post in this thread for more info on what resources are as well as a link for information about what some of those startup programs may be.

also,
could you post the paths (to the left of the names) for the unknowns plz

plz post back and let us know if it helped (unless of course im asking the question)
search vdr

Ok, I am checking the forum from work to see what your help would be. Do we not need those items that are unknown to you? Also, where will I locate the path to those? And one more, what is the av and do we need it, if so where do we get it? We are not real computer savvy, just know enough to be a danger I guess. When I get home I will see if I can find the path to those unknowns and post back.
-
I forgot to mention, there is nothing to the left of those items in the ctrl, alt delete box, only the items are listed.
-
AV means antivirus.
Now in msconfig/startup by lookin to the right of the listed items you might be able to tell what program is using it from the path.
something like this:
VetTray
then to the right I find;
C:\PROGRA~1\INOCUL~1\VETTRAY.EXE
Now reading backward, I get vettray is part of inoculate [my antivirus program]which is installed in the programs folder on C: drive.
Just in case.
go
Start > run [type in] msconfig > OK
Select the startup tab at the top.
> = click
Also Step by Step with Snapshots here on how to do that.
Maybe you will be able to tell which programs put what in there from this discription.

GBMenu is associated with the GoBack program.
-
Yes, GBMenue is Go Back, thanks for the reminder. That program has been a lifesaver for us (or computer saver rather). 4dMain is the dual wheel mouse. DmhKey is a Diamond Video Program and the Pro key listed 196 program files. Will try to go further ont his tomorrow. Thanks for the help so far
