Win98 won't GO!!!
Just reformatted yet another machine that my husband bought. I got it reformatted but WIN98 won't come up in all the ways I've tried before.
1) Change BIOS to boot from the CD ROM
2) Just have CD in and it usually goes.
3) C Prompt: cd e\ setup.exe
Help!!??

Hi,
You'll need a win98 boot disk to load in the basic cd rom drivers before that will work! Make one off a working win 98 machine by going to start> Settings> Control Panel> Add/Remove Programs> Start Up Disk. Put a Formatted floppy in A: drive and click on create disk. Now put it in the machine and pick start with cd rom support!

Same thing, it says:
First it said: Diagnostic tools are loading to RAMdrive E. (Virtual Drive)
(I have C and D as Master and Slave HD's, and E and F are (were) CD R's Now E is a Virtual RAM Drive so E is really F, etc.
THEN it said:
Preparing to start your computer... may take a few minutes, then down below:
Diagnostic tools were successfully loaded to drive E.
MSCDEX ver 2.25 (copyright stuff)
Drive F:=Driver MSCD001 Unit 0
Drive G:=Driver MSCD001 Unit 1
A:\>

The cd is in one of these drives:
Drive F:=Driver MSCD001 Unit 0
Drive G:=Driver MSCD001 Unit 1
You need to change to one of these drives then change to the Win98 folder to run setup. Or from the A:\> prompt type:
F:\Win98\setup
G:\Win98\Setup
