Looking for new laptop
I have a Dell XPS 13 9360 laptop computer that I have been using since 2017. It was recommended here from my post back in 2017. I have been very pleased with it. The specs are Intel Core i5-7200U CPU @ 2.50GHz, 8GB RAM, Intel HD Graphics 620 [128 MB], Toshiba 256GB SSD, windows 10 pro 64-bit OS. Since Microsoft will be ending updates on the windows 10, I want to purchase another laptop. I would like a bit faster processor, larger SSD and a bit more RAM. Is Dell a good brand to stick with? Can someone suggest a good recommendation for a good, reliable laptop with good hardware components? I have always been pleased with what I have purchased from the recommendations that was given to me here. I would appreciate the suggestions.

In my former employment I used to run lots of multimedia events including video and audio from laptop computers. Many of the people putting on those events would bring in their own laptops. Most had either a DELL or a MAC. I never personally had any major problems with any DELL laptops. They seemed to be very reliable and if I were currently in the market for one that's what I'd likely buy.

I am not sure which model I should get or even want. I just read where Microsoft is offering a one-year extended security updates program for $30 to all it's users. In the past, Microsoft would only offer it to their business customers. Is that worth purchasing?

I think the Extended Security Updates would be a good thing for you until you have
a New Laptop that you've either purchased or have on order.
Here is a Link for a Video about ESU; AskLeo.com

BTW, my current laptop is an Asus ZenBook Flip 15 with an AMD Ryzen 7 5000 Series Processor.
I've been very happy with this Laptop with the exception of Windows 11 Pro, but it is
growing on me.
I'm sure I'll never feel the way about Win11 Pro as I did with Win7 Pro or Win10 Pro,
but I'm doing better with it now than I was 2 yrs. ago.

Leo was right in his video link that I posted above.
I went into my Microsoft account and looked, I have 7,438 Points.
So I may just get ESU on my Desktop that's running Windows 10 Pro.

I went to window updates in settings on my win 10 laptop. Windows it up to date. I don't see any link that directs me to the $30 ESU. Where is it located?

I had to create a new microsoft hotmail account. After I created a user name and password, the following message below appeared. I don't log into windows with a password. What password are they asking? How do I proceed?
Sign into this computer using your Microsoft account
Next time you sign into this computer, use your Microsoft account password or Windows Hello, if you've set it up.
We'll need your current Windows password one last time.
-
Sign into this computer using your Microsoft account-> that would be the new Hotmail account you just created.
-
Steve, after logging into my account, the next screen is the same as I posted in my previous post. It is asking for my current windows password. Which password would this be? I don't have to enter a password when I log into windows.
-
I entered the password from the newly created hotmail account that I just created and it says "the password you entered for your device is incorrect."
-
I added the new account to my windows. It now shows my new microsoft e-mail address. I don't see anywhere where it allows me to enroll in the ESU.

I watched a youtube video and did the changes shown in the video. The video link is below. I changed a few registry settings that was shown in this video, so it would allow me to see the "enroll now" ESU button. The only exception is that I did not have to add the 2 new keys that he did in the video. I already had them in my register (ESUEligibility and ESUEligibilityResult). I just edited the value data of those 2 keys. This is shown in video appoximately 3:53 minutes into the video. After making those changes and rebooting, I still don't see the "enroll now" ESU button.
