Ideal System Setup.......2 Computers

Hi! I got 3 of the 4 Hard Drives working, I got the Home Lan Network Working and got the files I need off of all drives backed up and I am wanting to start ALL OVER by reformatting both computer's Hard Drives, reinstalling things in the correct order, backing up the system before I load a bunch of programs, etc..

I'm still having that Task Bar problem, that's the main reason why, also, the Internet configuration on #2's HD is messed up and a few other things, mainly, I really want to start fresh.

I want to get it all set up right, for once, so I am here to get the advice you all wish you could give people BEFORE they make mistakes.

WIN98, plan on installing that and my network adaptor, then immediately going to Windows Update website, getting updates and IE5.5.

Also, need advice on how to utilize the drives. One computer - #1, has 8Gig Master and 850MB slave, CD/RW. - #2 has 1.75 Master HD.

I want to know how to be safe in serving my website from one of these drives and where to store the cab files, etc... Should I serve and store from the same machine, same or different drives, what is the best SIMPLE AND SECURE server software to learn with?

(I have a static IP, and a COM21 box, the big pipe)

Hmmm... Hard drives seem pretty small, I'm always getting maxed out and I have 75g...

Apache is the easiest server I've seen so far... Try putting your website on a seperate drive. I dont know about securtiy problems, but it'll make organizing easier...

Even though you have a static IP, you might want to register with DNS2GO. It'll make getting to your site easier. Instead of typing in an IP number, someone can get to your site by "cyndi10.d2g.com" or the like...
