So I am not the greatest with tablets. Is my tablet to old for updates? If I go to Google play I get "This browser is no longer supported"

If I go to Google play what am I looking for. Probably pretty general questions. If you need more info let me know.

What kind of updates? If you mean OS updates, you'd have to get that directly from Toshiba. It doesn't look like their ICS upgrade worked very well.Quote:

I joined the forum and so far no help. It took a week to get a response and what they suggested I had already tried.

I should have said upgrades I think. Not sure about that. There is on Toshiba's site for Thrive ICS 4.0.4. I followed the instructions which said "Go to the app "service station" tap and then tap on "check for updates". I get message "no software updates available". And the ICS 4.0.4 does not download. The forum site agreed with you that the ICS is not very good and recommended "dalepl ICS". I tried to find instructions for downloading that and failed to do so. What is "ICS" anyway? I am very confused!
Android 4.0 "Ice Cream Sandwich" is a version of the Android mobile operating system developed by Google.
ICS = Ice cream sandwich.
Just a distro of Android for phones.

If you are using a custom ROM, you'd need to do more than just "check for updates". You'd need to get instructions directly from whoever the developer is. OS updates are very specific to the hardware, so you can't just install ICS or any other flavor of Android.
Fair warning, that will require some advanced techniques like rooting and unlocking the bootloader, so that could be pretty difficult for you. Plus there is a good chance of bricking the tablet if you mess up.
Why are you trying to upgrade the OS anyway? Is there a certain app you need that requires Android 4 or something?

As a matter of fact the app I want to download is called "Guitar Tuna". It was on the tablet but is now gone. There is Google on the tablet and if I do a search for Guitar tuna it automatically signs into google and when I tap on Guitar tuna I get a screen that says Google Play and on that screen it says "this browser is no longer supported". "Please use the Google Play Store app to access Google Play". So I tap on Google play and find the app. If I tap on the Guitar Tuna app I get a message "Guitar Tuner Free-Guitar Tuna could not be downloaded due to an error. (Error retrieving information from server. [RPC:S-7 4MWB-NWj3-WCLXO])"
Did you try checking for "Guitar Tuna" in Google Play from a PC? I don't see it listed at all in Google Play. Upgrading the OS would not fix that issue. You'd be better off finding an alternative app.
I found "Guitar Tuna" on my tablet in the "Top Free" category. I tried to find it on my pc and it referred me to google play for Android.
There is no listing for "Guitar Tuna" in the current Google Play store. The "Top Free" on your tablet is probably outdated.

Have you even used "Guitar Tuna" before? What features make it so great?
Did you consider just getting an actual tuner? Snark clip-ons are pretty good and they go for under $20 online. Probably a lot more accurate than an app anyway.

Yes I had "Guitar Tuna" on my tablet and I used it many times. It is probably the most accurate tuner there is. I have a Snark which is adequate.
On my tablet I just went to the Google play app and opened it, looked in top free, scrolled down and there it is next to crazy wheels and plex for android. Maybe it isn't available any more and hasn't been removed. Thanks for the help! I'll consider the thread closed.
I tried downloading the app "Tuner-gstrings free" and got the same error.(Error retrieving information from server. [RPC:S-7 4MWB-NWj3-WCLXO]. I would guess that is the problem.
