Can we assume that thie is a USB connected drive, and that you have tried other USB ports, and that other USB drives or devices work on those ports? Is this drive powered by the USB port or does it have its own power brick o rpower cord/supply?
jd, thank you so much for replying. I am happy to say that yes is the answer to your questions. I seem to recall having a similar event occur some time ago and I feel sure that I had 'something' to do with this recent problem. I tried so many things to get the drive recognized and most likely did 'something' to cause this problem. I am not worried too much about the backups on the drive because I can make another. If fact, one of the backups was a trial of EaseUS to do free software. Heck, I probably deleted something in my haste to right things and maybe the right question will jog my weak memory.
OK, all is now well. I must have deleted the partition; at least it was not listed when I opened Disk Management so I created another and then made another backup and then validated it and now all is well.
