I plugged a USB3 stick into a USB3 port and copied a movie of 1.2 gig. It copied at an average speed of 5.4 mb
I then plugged in an old SUB2 stick into the same USB3 port and it copied the same file at 7.22 mb.
Can any one tell me why the usb2 copied faster than the USB3?
If nothing is wrong, no technical reason for such a result.
Hit a few USB sticks that I swear are USB 1.0 sticks.
Lexar is the brand I use now. They work just spiffy for me.
Have you installed the 3.0 drivers?
I have new via drivers still makes no difference.
I tried the 2 usb3 ports on the back of the pc and the front, makes no difference, still slow as a wet week.
I got a support email for TDK the manufacturer giving no help at all.
My conclusion is the stick is useless
It would help if you posted the make/model of the drives.
What file system are you using on each drive? That can make a difference as well.
You can also test your drive speed with usbdeview and then compare them to other drives:

It is a TDK 8 gig Gold USB 3.0
Fat 32 or NTFS is the same slow speed. I tested it with the link provided
and got 6.30 MB/Sec
A TDK gold USB 2.0 did the same test and got 8.4
You're talking write speed, right? That is pretty slow for a USB 3.0 drive.

FAT32 is usually faster than NTFS.
USB speedtest is USB 3.0
Speedtest2 is at USB 2
Lexar 8 GB USB 3.0 stick.
Cruzer Glide. a 2.0 stick 8 GB
Glide USB2 was USB 2.0 test
Glide USB3 was the USB 3.0 test.

Ya. That is really poor write performance for a USB3 drive.
