[RESOLVED] display driver ... stopped responding ...

i'm running windows 7 on a dell optiplex 380. i keep getting the following error message ...

"display driver intel graphics accelerator drivers for windows vista stopped responding and has successfully recovered"

... and then get the bsod. i'm surprised it says "vista" when i'm running "7" but w/e.

i've googled the error message and dl the file Win7Vista_64_152258.exe but when i run it i'm told that the pc does not meet the requirements.

i then went to dell and got to this page: http://www.dell.com/support/drivers/.../1798SL1?s=BSD. it lists driver updates for this pc. however, i don't see any "graphics accelerator" driver there under video. should i be looking for another name or am i in the wrong place.

Graphics accelerator is just your video card. Intel GMA = Intel Graphics Media Accelerator
Intel GMA 4500HD/4500MHD Driver would be it.

Are you sure it is 64-bit Win7?

no, it's 32. i guess i should have noticed the "_64_" in the filename. d'oh.

anyway, i ran the "Intel GMA 4500HD Graphics Driver" update file from dell. we'll see how it goes.

OS bit type is one of the first things you need to check before you download drivers. Good luck.
