May not even boot.
Really? I wonder why the device just doesn't just use the intended/limited max? Gotta be a mechanical reason such as the ability of the hard/soft ware cannot do such account 1) laziness, 1) excessive cost to accept but limit? Probably the latter,

Well if the BIOS can not read the right ram, being to large, it most likely throw up a beep code saying bad ram.
You can try it if you wish, but I sure would not.
The computer usually just starts beeping immediately on power-on, or nothing but a black screen.
