Generic Server Issue

My company leases four servers from a Dallas data center. (DC) We use the machines to host one of our accounting packages AND client's databases. All four are also running terminal server...

We have a total of 8 of our clients on three of the machines... And one client on one.

The "one" client has complained about performance since day one. (3 months) They went from hosting their own data on a local XP machine which wasn't working well. They also just upgraded to a new ISP and are getting 30 meg down and 12 megs up speed. The server is getting 90 down and 85 up.

Here's the kicker - my office in Dallas and our office in INDIA doesn't have the same performance issues...

The client is in Washington State. Isn't it possible there is some sort of bottleneck or two along the way? Would running tracert help and or should I get them to contact their ISP? Could their ISP maybe route their traffic a different route?

A tracert from one of their PCs to their (your) server would be a good start. Might want to have 'em also do another one to the IP address of one of your other servers for comparison.

The test results are attached...

The test from the clients office looks horrible to me. The DC techs are saying that since it's choking on the very first hop, that it's expected that the remaining hops would be bad too.

In the last five days, they've had the server completely lockup three times. One of the times caused database corruption and a restore from back up was necessary.

Would it be fair to say that if 12 users in one office were dropping packets left and right, that the poor server is killing itself trying to figure out what the users are wanting to do?

It also seems a little strange to me that the test logs appear to be traveling different routes.

Do you think it's time that the client got their ISP company involved?

My DC techs have suggested we run the WinMTR app from several computers...

Yes, it is beyond time to get their ISP, (Comcast IP Services, L.L.C.), involved.
