[RESOLVED] Low battery message

I'm trying to install the OS from a USB flash drive. It's an HP Mini 100 and when it boots it gives me the message, 'System has detected a very low battery level, recommend replacing battery. Press Enter to continue Startup.'

Fine, the machine works on the power cable and the owner doesn't want to buy a battery.

I start the installation of Win 7 and at some point, setup wants to reboot. Then I get the low battery message but setup doesn't continue. The option to 'Press Enter to continue Startup' only begins the whole installation procedure from the beginning again.

How can I get past this message?

When the installation routine reboots the system, unplug the USB flash drive so the computer can boot from the hard drive and continue the installation.

Are you guessing? My understanding was that after the first reboot, the machine still needs more files from the USB? The first thing I'm going to try is removing the battery, it won't be able to detect the status then, maybe that will work. Another couple of options are 1) disable the alert in the BIOS under Power Options (don't yet know if that's possible) and 2) borrow a battery from someone! I'll post back.

I just started it without the battery and there is no message, not even to say the battery is missing. Looks like that's going to work, at least for this machine. - rev

Nope, removing the battery didn't work. The installation started again. I'll try pulling the USB next.
