Windows XP death watch begins.
Probably want to save all the SP updates in a safe place, in case you need to reinstall and those SP are not available for download anymore on MS!
Pretty sure you can get the current updates etc for a long time... They just won't be making any new ones.
For example, Microsoft's "MS-DOS 6.x Step-Up" to version 6.22 downloads from ~20 years ago are still available:
Wow, that's very nice of MS! Unlike some companies, Adobe comes to mind, support for old versions is practically nonexistent.
THE one and ONLY reason why I love my Xp is to be able to use Money 98 which I have 14 years of backups .. ( .mny extensions ) .. so what to to do what to do .. I had a flash of genius and figured exactly what I am going to do.. Out of my three Hard drives connected to my motherboard .. One of the drives ( ide) is a 40 GB drive that is really just sitting there .. I will install XP with my disc and key early next year get all the last available updates for XP and will only use that drive as a dual boot system to either an installed win 7 or win 8 for email and web searches only ..
I will use XP for my money98 banking updates during the week.. I can create a dual boot PC between two O/S can't I ?? Not worried about this at all as I would not surf or find my email with Windows XP pro just use my beloved Money 98 ..
Dual boot, read both options.

You can also run XP inside 7. That way both operating systems can be running at the same time on the same screen(s).
