IE 9 Security Settings
Does anyone know of a webpage with an elaboration/explanation of the Security Settings in IE9--something like
http://www.bleepingcomputer.com/tuto...xplorer-safer/ and
http://www.xoc.net/works/internet-explorer-settings.asp
which are both pretty old??
Thanks.

Start with Internet Explorer 9's default settings:- Open Internet Explorer, click Tools > Internet Options > Security tab > Reset all zones to default level > Apply > OK.
The default settings provide the following levels of security for each of the four zones:- Internet - Medium-High
This zone is for internet websites, except those listed in the trusted and restricted zones.
- Local intranet - Medium-Low
This zone is for internal websites managed by your business or workplace.
- Trusted sites - Medium
This zone is for websites on the internet in which you have a high level of trust and confidence.
- Restricted sites - High
This zone is for websites on the internet that you do not trust and suspect could be malicious.
In the Internet Options window, click on each of the four zones to see or modify the security settings further. It is possible to increase the level of security of the browser by changing all zones to high but it is likely you will reduce the functionality of popular websites (particularly in the internet zone) that require you to log in (such as online banking, webmail, or social networking sites). If you choose to modify the settings further, at the very least, ensure that the Enabled Protected Mode box is ticked.

Thanks for those references, but they are not the security settings I am after. They rather are explanations of the security features in IE9.
What I am looking for is information for IE9 along the lines of the "Configuring Security Settings" section of
http://www.bleepingcomputer.com/tuto...xplorer-safer/
and the "Details" column of
http://www.xoc.net/works/internet-explorer-settings.asp
In other words the items you see when you click "Custom Level" on each of the Security tabs Zones.

Sorry but, I don't have that kind of time. Please ignore my post.

SpywareDr--
"I don't have that kind of time."
I feel I have never seen such a comment on VDr.
I detect animosity. Do you want to tell me? Perhaps Private Message?
Would any one else like to help?

All I meant was I don't have the time, (nor interest), to once again delve into the pros and cons of each and every setting in IE. AFAIC, Microsoft is finally doing a pretty good job of getting all of the settings right for the majority of their IE users. And that may well be one of the reasons for the apparent waning of interest on the 'net(?).
Hopefully some young, fresh blood will drop in here soon that is more than willing to help you start kicking that old IE-settings dead horse around once again. :)
I'm out.

SpywareDr--I did not ask for "pros and cons" of the security settings. Rather I asked if there are uptodate references that explain the various settings the way the two older references did. There are some differences between the settings in IE6 and IE9, so the older references do not have explanations for complete list of IE9 settings.

Jim: FWIW, IE 10 is now out for Windows 7. See my post earlier today http://discussions.virtualdr.com/sho...-for-Windows-7
