[RESOLVED] converting .mov for dvd player

I asked this a couple years ago, but have not done it for long time, which converter is best for.mov files so they will play on a dvd player? which format is it they have to be in?, Maybe my dvd manuals say that also?
Is it DVD FLICK http://sourceforge.net/projects/dvdflick/ ?

Or are there more?

i might have it on the vista dvd flick

I assume when you convert these, the .mov is gone or is it a copy method?

I know before i made a separate file and saved the .mov,, then copied them to another and converted.

NTSC the DVD manual says it has to be, so in DVD FLICK i have to set it on that if it is there? No windows media on this one

the ones i did some time ago, if i remember right cuts down on the run time, probably size, so is it best to keep the originals and copy a set to another folder to convert?

Some like to play them on the tv with dvd player.

If you were to play them on your lap top to a tv, will any format play on the tv then? dvd players are the bigger hagups as to what formats?

If the original video is of any value and/or one of a kind I would always work on a copy of it.

If you mean using your TV as a secondary screen from the laptop then it would not matter at all what format the video is. If it plays on the computer screen it will also be seen on the TV... it's just another monitor screen. If the TV is a newer flatscreen then the quality should be pretty good depending on resolution, screen size, quality of the laptops graphics card, CPU etc... but if it's an older CRT then the picture will not necessarily be all that great.

I haven't found for sure, is the original.mov file better than after conversion, providing the original is a sharp .mov?

No media file will ever be better than the original after processing/converting. Best case is that it will be the same quality. The reason for converting is not to make it better but to make it playable in other formats.

YUP I realize the reason for change that's why i'm doing it, it seems some i did played a lot faster, is that the compression aspect?

Ii was a while back but some seemed crisper maybe not?

is dvdflick the best to use, what about anyvideo?

I've used DVDflick in the past and it worked well. Never used Anyvideo.
