Restarted system to discover that the desktop had gone blank save for the Cmputer Icon and the Trashcan. I could not access Internet Explorer without double-clicking the C: drive icon and then navigating to iexplore. If I double-clicked other possibilities, the word "Empty" appeared.
I followed the instructions, Steps 1-4, in the Intensive Care Unit and submit the following logs:

-
I don't see anything malicious.
If you're still having issues I suggest starting new topic in Windows forum.
-
The two data items detected by malwarebytes in the registry show up as "infected:"
Registry Data Items Detected: 2
HKCU\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Explorer\Advanced|Start_ShowMyComputer (PUM.Hijack.StartMenu) -> Bad: (0) Good: (1) -> No action taken.
HKCU\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Explorer\Advanced|Start_ShowSearch (PUM.Hijack.StartMenu) -> Bad: (0) Good: (1) -> No action taken.
I can stop worrying about these?
Thanks as always,
sbuxman
-
You should have let MBAM fix those but they're not a big deal.
I don't see anything else.
-
I will rerun mwb and have it fix them. TY and all the best as usual...
