[RESOLVED] Laptop is infected with a Trojan...
Hi, This morning as I was working, my laptop screen went black and this window popped up from "Data Recovery", S.M.A.R.T. Repair. It ran a scan on my computer and came up with a list of errors. It said "Your computer is in critical state. Hard disk error detected." Then there was a button that said "Fix Errors". When I clicked on that button it took me to www.secure.data-recovery-software.com. They wanted my Visa card number to download a tool to fix the errors; not saying what it costs. I stopped right there and ran a McAfee full scan.
1 Virus was detected in one file. C:\ProgramData\-dEXeuNYt1835dgr
Threat: FakeAlert!grb (Trojan) Quarantined
These windows also popped up:
"Data Error Reading Drive C:\" (and) "Device initialization failed" (and) "Critical Error Hard drive Controller Failure"
Data Recovery put an icon in my lower right hand side tray, and the their main window cannot be closed, only minimized.
A "System Message-Write Fault Error" comes up over and over in multiple blocks.
Nothing works, the only access to the internet is to "Data Recovery".
I'm on my husband's computer sending this to you. He says I've been hacked. Help!
