VMWare Workstation
Is VMWare free or is it a 30-day trial software?
I found this website that listed version 7 to be free. Is it safe and legit?

This one is a 30-day trial.

I have been using Virtualbox and VirtualPC for years. I am thinking about switching over to VMWare since I have nothing better to do right now. :)

OK Nick, so you answered my question from this thread:
http://discussions.virtualdr.com/sho...re+Workstation
So, workstation is shareware and server is freeware.
That brings me to four questions.
First, is the verison 7 workstation in my previous post legit and what is the difference with version 7 and 8 for workstation?
Second, what is the difference between server and workstation that made server to be free and workstation to be shareware?
Third, is this VMWare Workstation or Server in this video?

Fourth, when using Virutalization, I install the Virtualbox on the C partition while the actual virtualization files are stored on another partition. Before I reimage my computer, I backup two files from Local/App area that describe the virtualization files. After reimaging, I reinstall Virtualbox and copy those backup files over and whoalla, virtualbox does not know that the HOST system was reimaged. Virtualbox only has those two files. What would I need to backup for VMWare interms of these files and registry?
My main host is Windows 7 64-bit. Not sure if VMWare will work.
Thanks
