I have a Acer Aspire 3000. When I boot up on AC with the battery in the laptop it runs extremely slow. 20 mins. to get to a desktop!
If I take the battery out and reboot it runs fine.
Even though I'm using AC power can a faulty battery cause the laptop to run slow?

I think that link is more if I'm having problems with the battery life.
However I'm not using the battery, I'm plugged in to AC all the time.
The computer boots up slow and is almost impossible to use if I have the battery attached to the laptop. If I remove it then everything seems to work properly.
So I was just wondering if the battery is faulty, shorting out etc.. could it cause the system to run slow. Even though I'm plugged in to AC outlet.

Also forgot to mention that when the battery is attached to the laptop the battery light on front is always green.
First I would try to calibrate the battery.
May have to do it 3 or 4 times so that when you do hook the power up, wait about 30 seconds and then boot the computer, immediately check how much battery is left. If less than 10%, then all is good. If that does not work, :( , then it is new battery time.
Well it must be the battery.
I tried booting back up with the battery in the laptop and 24 mins until a desktop and then I couldn't do anything. The mouse pointer wouldn't move, I couldn't click on anything. The only way I knew it wasn't frozen was the clock kept changing time.
I pulled the battery out and I was able to work on the desktop. Put battery back in and everything locks up, except the clock.
Time for new battery I guess

I would say you have it figured out.
Now follow those calibration instructions and see how much longer the battery last. I got 5 years before I sold the laptop.
