If it was a new drive, did you partition and format it?
IT is an old drive full of junk i want to format.
Is it the only drive on the IDE cable? Is the jumper for Master/Slave set correctly?
So you can see it in disk management. If you knew to format, why didn't you do it already? Are you having problems formating?
Did you delete and recreate the partition?
I can see it in computer management
I can see it in device management.
My question was and is "why can't i see it in computer?" ( my computer as it used to be called)
I have never said i have problams formatin.

I did read. You didn't answer if you reformatted the drive or not.
If you can see it in computer management (disk management), then you should be able to remove all the partitions, create a new partition, and format it. If you formatted it and assigned it a drive letter, you should be able to see it in my computer.
What kind of system did you get this system from? Was there any overlay app like EZbios or Goback on the drive?
IOW, it won't show up in "My Computer" until it's partitioned, formatted and assigned a drive letter in "Disk|Computer Management".
To show in Windows Explorer/My Computer, it has to have a filesystem that Windows can see, which pretty much restricts it to FAT32, ExFAT or NTFS. Even with those filesystems, creating them with 3rd party software has been known to cause issues with the drive being seen by Windows as well.
If it shows up in disc management as "Healthy" right click on the drive>>Change drive letters and paths...Assign it an unused drive letter.
