I got a Windows XP machine that somehow got it's C Drive letter designation changed to a D drive. Is there anyway to change this letter designation of D back to C without having to reload the machine?

Nope you can't change the drive letter of the System Volume. It should run just fine like it is.
If you feel comfortable using the registry editor, you can change the drive letter for the system/boot"C:"drive as stated here: http://support.microsoft.com/?kbid=223188
Be very careful when editing the registry however and back up first...
Ridge - here's the Warning from the link you provided:
The drive letter in Ginky's case didn't change... It started out as the D drive probably because of another drive in the system.Quote:
Warning Do not use the procedure that is described in this article to change a drive on a computer where the drive letter has not changed. If you do so, you may not be able to start your operating system. Follow the procedure that is described in this article only to recover from a drive letter change, not to change an existing computer drive to something else. Back up your registry keys before you make this change.
