Just need an explanation please.

Hi Everyone !

Ok we're talkin' Dell Dimension 4600, Pentium [email protected] ghz, 1.75gb RAM, 60 gb HD.
Windows XP Pro SP3 with all updates.

I was able to get a Radeon 9600 128mb video card. Obtained drivers and related software from ATI and it installed and it's working fine.
Here is a picture of the card.

When I looked at the card in 'Device Manage' it shows up like the picture below.

Please explain: :confused:

1. Why it shows Radeon 9550 and not 9600 ?
2. What is the 'Secondary' thing about?

1. GUESS - maybe the 9600 is a "tweaked" 9550
2. Dual Ports for dual monitors.

Yep, the "secondary" is because of the second port. Radeon drivers split each port into a separate display adapter, for some reason.

I think it shows as a 9550 because exactly the same driver is used for both the 9550 and 9600.
