I was in Hotmail last night and clicked on 'something' that offered 3 items in a box for me to choose from. I only remember the last offering having to do with old emails and I clicked on it and was taken back to see old old emails. I have tried today to determine what it was and were it was. Any ideas? IE9 and Win7 if you need to know. And as usual, TIA.
buf--I have a Hotmail account, but never use it. I think it is either web-based or Cloud based (i.e., the mail is on the Hotmail server and remains there until you delete). If so go to the Hotmail web site www.hotmail.com, sign in if necessary and see if you can find that email.

I use my hotmail account and I tried to find that weird link before I posted. It was really strange and I was not looking for deleted emails. I make no effort to save the greatest majority of emails. Maybe I will come across it again some day and then try to remember how I got "there".
buf--A real wild guess with no factual experience. Perhaps this was a Hotmail notice that you had some old emails that were taking up space and Hotmail wondered if you would like see them and perhaps delete for good. In the past MS email programs do not really delete messages even when you click "Delete". Rather they wait to finally delete when a "Compact" procedure is called.
Could be you're right but I have never seen it before and there must be a ton of deleted emails from me alone. If only I could recall what the other 2 choices in the box were could help solve this puzzle.
Do you get that "box" you're looking for if you right-click a message in your Inbox? What about in your Deleted Items?
Right click a message and and the line get a check mark plus whole string of things you can do will pop up in the applet.
Now when you mouse over the message and pause other options will pop up.
Doc/Train I got no positive results from either of your suggestions. I have searched and searched and right clicked/left clicked on everything thing I could find in the various categories in my hotmail account, all without success. I know that I was not seeing things when that "box" opened up and it was probably an options list but there were only 3 items listed. I give up and will count this as another of those unexplainable happenings.
Thanks for your inputs--I won't 'worry' about this any more.
Might need to clean out the cache and the cookies. And see if starting over helps.
Made that mistake a few times myself.

The latest on this matter.
I have just discovered something that I have to say that I have never noticed before and can only say it must be something new in hotmail. At the bottom of the deleted folder messages I find this line of text: Lost a message? When you recover deleted messages, we bring back as many as we can. Learn more I clicked on the hilited words, recover deleted messages, and was presented with 289 deleted emails. A click on either of them showed me the text inside the email. To get rid of them, I had to delete each of the 9 pages of emails. I have used hotmail for years as my #1 email client and I have never ever seen that line. At the end of that sentence are the hilited words: Learn more. I clicked on it and tried to capture the link address to post but it would not allow me to copy it :confused:
There are times in our lives that we can see something over and over or simply be around the item and never notice it because we are not expecting it. A reminder, I am using IE9 and Win7 and only recently trying IE9 again. And if I get an email I want to save, I create a folder, identify the folder by name and put the email in it. The bulk of my emails are always deleted.
This item is not bothering me but my curiosity is high.
With IE9 you're probably seeing the new HTML5-optimized version of Hotmail.

buf--I would say you learned (and have kindly shared with us) a very interesting feature of Hotmail!
If you could see the link address, in the future, maybe take a screenshot. Or right click|Properties|General tab. What is in the Address-URL line? You should be able to copy that by using your mouse and then Control+C. Paste into NotePad, etc.Quote:
